The complimentary headphones that they provide on airplanes are nice enough but they do have their downsides.

For starters, they have to be turned up to the highest setting in order to hear the show or movie that you are watching. This is all well and good until an action scene comes on and then you have gone deaf in the process.

Those who are looking for a simpler way to enjoy their in-flight entertainment, you have come to the right place. Your days of having to wear the same headphones that have already been worn by hundreds (if not thousands) of other people are over.

Sure, you can use your own headphones but it is so hard to find the right balance with the jack.

You have to put it in far enough to allow it to work but without pushing it so far that you start to hear static. It’s a difficult in-flight ritual but most of us have grown to accept it.

At long last, there is a much-needed reprieve from these issues. We no longer have to live this way and we are more than happy to pass along this amazing hack. Nikias is the Instagram user who has pointed it out, so all credit is due to him.

You can now connect your wireless headphones to the airplane television but Nikias is quick to note that this technology is still very much in the “beta” mode. The instructions that he followed are easy enough to understand, so we will defer to his tutorial at this time.

“Airpods users stop scrolling right now,” his video reads. “You can now connect your airpods to your aeroplane’s display. Tap on the bluetooth icon. Reset your AirPods. They magically appear [on the screen] so tap on your airpods. You are now connected. Choose a movie. You can also adjust the volume and adjust noise cancellation,” he advises. “It’s on beta right now but works perfectly well.”

This hack was labeled as a game changer by some, while others claimed that they have been using it for a while now.

Meanwhile, others said that they were fine with loading up their iPads with shows or movies if they were going to be on a long flight. We just hope that this feature becomes more commonplace during the weeks and months to come. It is too good of an idea to go to waste!
