There are times when a recipe name hypes up the finished product, and then are times where the name fits perfectly, as with these coconut pecan dream bars. They’re so easy to make and taste like pure heaven- that is, if you enjoy coconut and pecans. Because these bars are packed with both.
These bars do have a crust, which is super simple to make. All you have to do is cream together butter and brown sugar and then add in the flour. Press that into a baking pan and then pre-bake it. While that’s baking work on the topping.
One of the secrets to this simple, yet delightful, recipe is sweetened condensed milk in the top layer. This makes it super rich and sweet without having to add a ton of ingredients to the mix.
There’s also some brown sugar in the top layer as well to deepen the sweet, buttery flavor of these bars.
Once you’ve added the top layer to the crust return the pan to the oven and when it’s done baking you’ve got these crispy, chewy, sweet, rich, melt-in-your-mouth bars that are everything a pecan or coconut fan could love.
These bars come from a vintage recipe and they have been making people swoon for decades. For a simple, easy, tasty, treat this one’s a dreamy recipe.
