It’s a tale as old as time: How do we get plastic containers clean and free from stains? It’s happened to the best of us.
For me, it usually happens whenever I make marinara sauce or certain curries. I get out the plastic containers to put away the leftovers and then I go from having a nice, clean container to one that bears an orange tinge afterward – it’s the scarlet letter of Tupperware.
So many of us have had that happen to our plastic Tupperware, only to end up having to get chucked out or rotated to the back of the cupboard – never to be used again. But what if we could save ourselves the heartache of losing yet another plastic container to the embarrassing orange mark?
What if there was a way to magically restore it to its former glory? Well, you’re in luck because there is – and the best part is that it only takes less than two minutes to do!
Everyone can breath a sigh of relief thanks to a very informative TikTok video. Where would we be without TikTok these days? The social media platform has tons of great life hack videos, and how to properly clean a plastic container happens to be one of them.
In the video, the TikToker begins by addressing the audience with the same question we always ask ourselves: “How do I clean my containers?” While everyone has their own method, she shows us a quick and easy one that works!
According to her video, all it requires is dish soap, warm water, and some paper towel scraps. And hardly any elbow grease either. As the TikToker explains, you just place the dish soap in, fill it up with warm water, then dump in the paper towels before you “shake the container vigorously for 45 seconds to a minute.”
After this, she then says you can simply throw out the paper towel and rinse out the soapy water, and voila! Plastic containers look like new!
