Can You Freeze Wine?
I believe it was Ernest Hemingway who said, “Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection.” I have to agree with him.
Wine is a great libation for any dinner party. It pairs well with many different foods and desserts. Personally, I love wine best with cheese and charcuterie boards. It’s the perfect duo when hosting a quiet night at home with close friends. Throw in a game of Cards Against Humanity and it’s a party!

Apart from red wine, most of us probably prefer our white or rose wines to be cool and refreshing. Imagine having to drink rose wine at room temperature in the summer – sounds like a travesty!
But in order to make sure that our wine is well-cooled down before friends arrive for a dinner party, we need to pop them into the fridge with plenty of time. But sometimes, we forget and don’t realize we left a bottle out on the counter until the doorbell rings. So, how do we cool down a wine bottle really quickly? We throw that sucker into the freezer.

We all do it…but is that even a good idea? How many times have we forgotten to pull out a wine bottle from the freezer in time, only to later find that it has turned into a frozen slushy that tastes like alcohol? What are you supposed to do with the wine slushy? Do you let it thaw and then drink it? Do you toss it? Is wine even supposed to be frozen?
Well, you’ll be happy to know that technically, yes, you can freeze wine. So if you accidentally have made yourself a wine slushy, there is no need to worry. It won’t make you sick and it doesn’t need to be poured down the drain.

There is also a minor plus to these wine slushies, and that is you won’t ever have to worry about a fully frozen bottle as the alcohol content will keep it from totally freezing over. So, in short, you can safely enjoy your wine slushy if you ever accidentally leave a bottle in the freezer much longer than you intended.
Of course, since you can freeze wine, a rose slushy by the pool in the summertime is sounding more and more like a fun idea.
