Woman Warns Why You Should Look Out For Brown Lines On Your Thumbnails
There are some stories that are simply more important than others. They require urgent responses because they discuss urgent topics. This woman’s story is a prime example of this.
She had what she thought was a “cool streak” on her thumbnail but as it turns out? It was something else entirely. Now, she is sharing this jaw-dropping story with the rest of the world.

Maria Sylvia, 25, hails from Virginia. She is here to explain her circumstances and we’re not going to lie, we were absolutely stunned. The aforementioned mark first made itself noticeable to her back in 2012. She was only 16 at the time. It is easy to see why she was not too worried about it then.
The line was faint at first, so Maria did not think anything of it. Now, she is posting on TikTok under the name invrfoundwaldo and passing the story along to the rest of us.

As she shared in a video, the line started to get darker and darker, which caused her to worry more and more. She’s an ex-athlete and even when she had her regular physicals, doctors were failing to notice this.
No tests were done on her thumbnail because her doctors said that she “didn’t fit the demographics” to have one completed.

Thus, the condition was allowed to worsen. “I didn’t have any pain with it, so I just figured it was a mole because that’s what they told me, that it was most likely a mole in my nail bed,” she explains.
Fortunately, a friend pushed her to have a biopsy on the thumbnail back in January, and at this time, the truth was revealed. She actually had a rare type of skin cancer that grows beneath the fingernails.

“Me: Having this for 10 years, thinking it was a cool streak in my nail,” she wrote in her video.
From there, she was admitted to The John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Her entire nail bed and top of her thumb had to be removed down to the bone and tendon in a surgical procedure on March 11.
@frankenthumbb I wish I were joking lol but i have some awesome photos #SmoothLikeNitroPepsi #theadamproject #cancer #darkhumour #fml #myjourney
She is now cancer-free and more than happy to be alive. Subungual melanoma is found in just 0.07 % to 3.5 % of the world’s population, so be sure to get checked. Let this video serve as your motivation!
