It’s been a few weeks now since Betty White passed away on December 31st at the age of 99 – just two weeks shy of what would’ve been her hundredth birthday on January 17th. But there are still so many tributes to her trending on social media. She truly was an icon and will be missed.

One artist that is doing their best to honor the late Betty White through art is Florida artist, Alexis Fraser. She is also known as Lipstick Lex on Instagram, where she posts a bunch of content of her incredible artwork.

As her name suggests, Fraser’s preferred medium to work in is lipstick. No, she’s not a makeup artist, she’s a regular artist only she uses lipstick instead of paint.

In an interview with ACB Action News, Fraser explained her reasoning for using lipstick as a creative medium is because “it’s all so fun because it’s something that’s totally new and different.”

The artist added, “You can manipulate it and smudge it with brushes. You can draw directly with it, but I like to put it on too and put my kisses into my pieces too.”

Since hearing of Betty White’s passing, Fraser decided to use her creativity to come up with a way to honor the late star as she was one of her idols. Fraser explained, “I grew up with her on the television. She’s always been sort of America’s favorite grandma and I knew I wanted to create a piece in honor of her legacy for her 100th birthday and this was before she passed.”

After making her portrait of Betty White using lipstick, Fraser decided to go one step further in honoring the late legend by auctioning off the piece. She explained that all the moment raised would be donated to the local Humane Society of Tampa Bay in Betty White’s honor.

Fraser stated, “The starting bid is $750 dollars and it’s running until this following Monday so people can go ahead and donate directly to the shelter or if they want to claim this truly one-of-a-kind piece of Betty White, young, sassy Betty White and it’s there for them.”

Like Betty White, Fraser is also an animal lover. In fact, her family had recently adopted two kittens from the humane society. She wanted her artwork to be able to make a difference in the lives of stray animals. What a remarkable gesture!
