Flight Attendant Reveals What Different Beeps Mean On Airplanes
When we are on an airplane, there are all sorts of noises that we hear that we have no real explanation. All we can do in these instances is hope for the best.
We place our trust in the airline and the flight staff so that we are able to get to our destination safely and not lose our minds in the process. Now, this flight attendant is here to take all of the mystery out of the equation.

Tommy Cimato is an American Airlines crew member and he is looking to assuage many of the fears that we have while flying. He’s explaining the meanings of all the chime sounds that we tend to hear. If you were wondering, the chimes exist for a reason. They are designed to allow the crew to communicate with one another.
Each of the chimes that a passenger hears is indicative of a different code. If you hear one chime, this will have a different meaning as opposed to two or three. “Have you ever heard these sounds on a plane before? Do you ever wonder what that means?” Tommy asked in a viral TikTok video.

According to him, one chime on a flight means that a passenger has decided to ring the call button.
“If you hear just one tone, that means that a passenger is calling one of the flight attendants from their seat or they could be calling us from the lavatory,” Tommy explains. Three chimes are not common, though. Passengers who hear three chimes should be on alert because this means that there could be an emergency taking place.

“If you hear three of those high-low chimes, that means it’s an emergency – but you never have to hear that,” he shares. This is a relief to those of us who fly on a frequent basis. What about the high chime followed by the low chime? As it turns out, there is a simple explanation for this one as well.
“A high-low chime means that one flight attendant is trying to call the other flight attendant or the flight deck is trying to call us,” Tommy continues.

We are so glad that he is taking the time to explain all of these to us. We had no idea that there were so many different meanings until now.
