So, what is it about Adele that we did not know? Why is the internet so up in arms? As it turns out, we have actually been pronouncing her name wrong this entire time! We are so sorry, Adele. We promise that we had no idea whatsoever. This revelation came to light during a recent Q&A session to promote her latest single “I Drink Wine.”

The question that she answered was originally submitted by video by a fan who resides in London, named Annie.

“Love that. She said my name perfectly!” replied Adele. With the way that the fan pronounced her name, she was left to wonder if they also hail from Enfield, the North London borough where she was born and raised.

We are not supposed to be saying “Ah-dell.” “I was like uh-dale, and she was like uh-dale,” the singer shared. The difference may seem subtle to most but it is all about that second syllable. From there, she took the time to answer the fan’s question, which was centered around the songwriting and emotional process for her new album, 30.

This was not the only topic that was covered during the fan-driven interview session and it is well worth a watch for all those who want to learn more about the singer. That’s the beauty of Adele. Since we are not always treated to regular dispatches from her, these types of sit-downs are more than welcome. She comes across as such a kind and gentle soul.

If you would like to learn more about what she has to say about a wide range of topics, this video is well worth your time:
