When Claire called up a plumper to do some repair work, she never could’ve guessed the predicament she’d find herself in just days later.
After allowing the plumber to come to her home and do some repair work, she speculated that he may have stolen her wedding and engagement ring that were in the same area of the house he’d been working in.
Claire shared about the incident on TikTok @the_claire_standen and said her child brought her her empty wedding ring box while playing under the bed. Her child claimed the box was under the bed, but last Claire recalled, the box had been safely tucked away in a cupboard.
She immediately assumed the plumper must’ve stolen her rings and put the box under her bed to the evidence. Using some negotiation techniques she learned from a few different books, she called the plumper to confront him.
She shared in the video: “So I give him a ring and I say, ‘I wonder if you can help me – I’m having a really hard time trying to come to any other conclusion about what’s happened to my wedding and engagement ring other than that you might have stolen them so could you help me with this problem?”
The plumper ended up returning to her house, swearing he didn’t touch the rings. He then walked Claire back to the boiler to show her what he’d done while working in her house and low-and-behold the rings were there – on the floor by the boiler!
Claire believes he dropped them there intentionally so he wouldn’t get caught and she credits her negotiation tactics for getting the plumper to return the rings.
The plumber never did admit to stealing the rings and some believe Claire’s child probably dumped the rings on the floor by accident while playing with the box. We’ll never know for sure, but we’re just happy she has her rings back!
