This TikTok user has received a lot of attention as of late, as they looked to showcase the difference between the US and a wide range of other countries.
One man from New Zealand has taken to TikTok and they decided to round up all of the most interesting comments that they have gotten so far. The results were shocking and Americans who wish to learn more about their country should definitely take the time to check this one out.
For starters, did you know that we do not receive as much paid time off as other countries? Those who reside in England or South Korea actually receive far more days off than the average American, believe it or not.
Parental leave is another area where Americans are not getting as much time off as their foreign counterparts. We do not have any guaranteed parental leave, while British citizens are able to enjoy up to 39 weeks off. Japanese parents get a full year! These are things that we did not know at all until very recently but we are glad we learned.
@america_is_the_bad.place went on to explain that we are the only modern nation that still has a pledge of allegiance.
Citizens are also asked to calculate their own taxes here, which is not a common thing in the Western Hemisphere. We also rank 27th on the Human Freedom Index, a measurement of how easy it is for a country’s citizens to lift themselves up out of poverty.
These are all new facts to us and we have been enjoying the educational experience. There’s nothing wrong with taking the time to learn more about the nuances of your country.
