Picture Day at school is usually a big deal. As a kid, I loved picture day. I liked getting dressed up for it, and I was always that precocious kid that didn’t like getting dirty – especially when it was Picture Day.
But not all kids are like that, and one mom showed off hilarious side-by-side pictures of her daughter’s Picture Day events.
The mom, Nicole Bartlett, had sent her 3-year-old daughter off to school already for her photo to be taken. And like any mother, Bartlett was looking forward to adorable photos of her daughter. However, as the mom shared on Instagram, that wasn’t going to be the case.
The photo she shared was captioned, “Better luck next year,” and it featured her daughter’s yearbook picture. And let’s just say, it’s not the one that moms dream of. But, what are you gonna do?
Bartlett went on to explain in her Instagram post that Picture Day didn’t go quite as she had planned. In fact, the first photo is of her daughter that morning before she got sent off to school, while the second picture is what the photographer was able to capture at Picture Day. And the differences between the photos are hilarious!
As Bartlett shared with PEOPLE, “It was her first picture day. I got her up a little early and explained to her it was a special day, you get a little bit of hairspray and hair gel. I had really, really high hopes. I usually let her wear her hair up for school just to keep it out of her face and everything. But for picture day, I wanted it down.”
Bartlett added, “Her classroom was scheduled for morning picture time at like 9:30. So I was like, ‘Perfect. She’s going to get off the bus, basically have breakfast, and go straight to pictures,’…that is not what happened.”
Of course, like any mom would be, Bartlett was at first a little upset over the way the pictures turned out. But, with time and sharing them with her friends and family, she came to see just how hilarious they really are.
In fact, Bartlett said, according to PEOPLE, that once her relatives and friends started seeing the pictures, she realized that she had a very unique keepsake on her hands. She explained, “They were like, ‘This is something that’s going to be shown on her wedding day. This is better than you could have imagined.’ So we ended up ordering a huge package, and everyone is still getting their framed picture.”
The internet was definitely enjoying the before and afters, with many people commenting on the pictures. One person jokingly wrote, “I don’t know what she was doing, but she had the time of her life lol.”
While someone else added, “She looks so happy though!” another user wrote.
