New Orleans is known for their amazing food, and, let me tell you, the city lives up to its reputation. From the gumbo to the po-boys, not a single meal I had there was a let down. But, one of my absolute favorites was undoubtedly the Muffuletta Sandwich. This masterpiece is layered high with all the deli goods and then topped off with olive salad. My oh my, it is tasty. So when the idea of little Muffuletta Sliders came to mind, I knew I had to give them a go immediately. Let’s get into how they’re made…
To start out, keep the Hawaiian rolls in one solid sheet and carefully slice them in half horizontally with a large bread knife. Then, it’s time to layer on all the sandwich fixin’s. Start with a base of mozzarella cheese, followed by the soppressata, mortadella, and capicola, finishing with a layer of provolone cheese. Spoon the olive salad evenly over the top, spreading it out to cover the entire surface. Pop the top of the rolls back on and then bake them for about 8 minutes. You’ll then brush the top with olive oil and sprinkle on some sesame seeds for the final touch.
Return the sliders to the oven for a few more minutes. Once they’re golden brown in color, they should be good to go! Serve these Muffuletta Sliders warm and watch as they disappear before your eyes. Yum! Give these sliders a try and I know you’ll love this twist on the New Orleans classic as much as we do.
