Sometimes, a dog just needs to know they’re safe and loved before they’re willing to open up and that’s exactly what happened with Mimi.
The poor pup was found on someone’s property hiding under a shed. No one is sure how she got there or where she’d come from, but she wouldn’t let anyone near her.

Eventually, JoAnn Wiltz and Alex Babcock with Hope For Paws heard of the dog and decided to help. They drove to her location and found her hiding under the shed, seemingly terrified of humans.
It took a lot of patience, but once she came out of the shed, they were able to corner her between two fences that dead-ended at a tree.

JoAnn tried to offer the dog some food to gain her trust, but the poor thing was too terrified to eat. She was shaking and cowering, but rescuers were able to gently snare her and pull her out of hiding.
They discovered from neighbors that Mimi had been living outside for weeks, possibly longer. As soon as they got her into a crate with a soft blanket, she seemed to relax. It was as if she knew she was being rescued and could release her breath.

Once back at the rescue, Mimi received a much-needed bubble bath and plenty of pets and love. She was given a clean bill of health and was set to be transferred to a foster home while she’ll waited for her forever family to find her.
