Mother Of 5 Shares How She Saves Money On Lunches
Inflation has been out of control recently, as I’m sure you have noticed. It’s making it more and more difficult for people to have what they need on a daily basis, including making sure that their family has plenty to eat.
One YouTuber that knows this all too well is Megan Birch. As a mother of five, she has plenty of tips and tricks up her sleeve and she doesn’t mind sharing them.

Recently, Birch joined “Fox & Friends” to share some of those tips on how to save money on groceries and how to stay organized.
The first tip that she provides is to be prepared before you enter the supermarket. You need to plan out everything in advance, including all of the ingredients for lunches.
As you look at the grocery list she shares, it has things separated into different categories. That keeps things not only affordable but healthy.

She also likes to keep her children close at hand when she goes shopping. She doesn’t always have them with her but she does want them to have a say in what they will eat.
Reusable items can also go a long way in helping to save money. Purchase reusable plastic containers and lunchboxes. If you have something hot, use a thermos.
She said: “You don’t have to buy plastic bags that are going to be thrown away. Especially if you have multiple children – that can really add up over time.”

Birch is also a big advocate for purchasing food in bulk. Bulk items are less expensive when all is said and done, so she buys big whenever possible.
Sometimes, she also purchases generic items rather than going for the name brand. She explained: “The other day, I bought a bag of pretzels for nearly $2 less than the name brand sitting right next to it.”
Tip number five is to make your own packaged food rather than purchasing things prepackaged. It gets you more and saves you more.

Tip number six is to get creative when packing lunch. It might mean leftovers in the thermos and putting items together, such as apples and peanut butter.
As another way to save, she sends her children off to school with reusable bottles. They can drink water rather than drinking juice, milk, or another beverage.
Finally, she doesn’t allow food to go to waste. Keep track of what your children are eating and adjust when necessary.
