Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Independence Day is an annual celebration of the day that the Declaration of Independence passed. It is a day that commemorates nationhood and freedom. Today the Fourth of July is celebrated with barbeques, fireworks, and lake days so it becomes easy to forget about the reason behind the celebration. It is easy to forget the sacrifices that have been made to keep our country free.

Veteran at a food pantry

Many of our country’s veterans go from fighting for their lives to fighting to find nutritious meals on the daily. With Covid-19 having swept the nation, the veteran unemployment rate rose from 3.1% in 2019 to 5.3% in December 2020. Currently around twenty-five percent of veterans are now seeking aid from food pantries and other organizations in order to receive their meals.

This Independence Day we invite you to join us in honoring veterans by providing access to nutritious and accessible meals. Greater Good Charities has partnered with Veterans Affairs offices to provide healthy grab and go meals to veterans in VA Homeless Programming. These meals are not covered by funds received by the federal government, so this support is greatly needed.

Your generous donation of $10 can provide food packs containing non-perishable items to homeless veterans facing food insecurities.

Greater Good Charities is devoted to protecting the health and well-being of people (particularly women and children), pets, and the planet.
