Hurricane Ida made landfall as a massive Category 4 storm along the southern Louisiana coast Sunday morning, on the 16 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. It brought sustained winds over 150 miles per hour, life threatening storm surge, and widespread flooding. New Orleans has issued mandatory evacuations and the governor has declared a state of emergency for Louisiana, and over a million customers are without power. As the damage is assessed, one thing is clear: many people and businesses lost everything.
Greater Good Charities is already responding and with your help the 12 Tomatoes Cares community is ready to aid in the efforts. We are funding and sending in Good Packs full of survival supplies and working to send cash grants to human services partners on the ground to help families now. As Greater Good Charities fields requests for help from their partners in the state, they stand ready to send additional aid to support and feed those impacted. But they can’t do it without you.
