They shared the price of this apple pie during one of their visits to the park. Of course, it did not take long before the internet was absolutely losing their minds over it.
The concept of a pie costing this much is hard to wrap your mind around but it is a decent value when you stop to think about the ratio of dollars to pounds of pie.
Stonewall Kelsey is the one who shared the clip on TikTok. As it turns out, the park sells 25-pound apple pies and they can be had for the price of $229. Now, Kelsey is sharing her story with the rest of the world.
“I decided to post the video because I knew it would cause some controversy amongst the Dolly Parton fans,” she told The New York Post. “I didn’t actually get any of the pie but all of the other concessions at the park were great so I’m sure the pie would have been worth the $230!”
If you would like to take home a singular slice, you can do so for the much lower price of $19.99. As you can imagine, it takes a sizable amount of food, time and effort to craft one of these 25-pound pies. The requisite butter, sugar and cinnamon is used, in addition to a whopping 35 apples.
It takes three hours to bake the pie and a cast iron skillet is used. The lattice design is quite intricate as well. So, how much does each individual slice weigh? Each slice clocks in at 3 pounds! The entire pie’s price has gone up in recent years, as we used to be able to buy it for $189.99.
One viewer asked if Dolly comes with the pie. “Went to Dollywood last year for the first time and EVERYTHING IS WAAAAY OVER PRICED. If you took $200 then you can afford a shirt and a bag of candy,” another claims.
