Some dog owners have noticed specific areas on the sidewalk where dogs are being electrocuted as they walk along.

“We were walking our dog down the street, he let out a very large yelp and then he started prancing like he was on hot lava,” Sara Lebwoh said in an interview with Inside Edition.

Sara’s dog experienced electrocution in one of those areas where others have reported the same thing happening to their pets. According to Inside Edition, the shocks are occurring due to stray voltage under the sidewalks.

Apparently, the voltage occurs from a combination of old wires and weather conditions. While people are less likely to get shocked because they wear shoes, dogs are less protected since they walk on the sidewalk with their bare paws.

Sadly, the incident has even resulted in the death of one dog when it had a stroke and a heart attack following electrocution.

It seems the power company responsible for the stray voltage has responded to the issue and is working to resolve it.
