In a now-viral video, a man can be seen opening his front door and calling out, “Buddy.”
As he sits back and sips his coffee, it may seem like a dog will come running up the path, but that’s not what happens.
As the man relaxes with the door open, a giant buck comes walking up the pathway to the door. The man doesn’t seem surprised at all to see the buck. Instead, it seems that the large wild animal is exactly who he was expecting!
The man holds up a snack for the buck, and he walks inside the door and takes it right out of the man’s hand!
Since uploading the video on January 20th, 2022, it’s been viewed over 10 million times. People can’t believe how relaxed the deer is and what kind of relationship the two have!

The man regularly uploads content of himself surrounded by deer on his YouTube channel, Deer Whisperer Lynn Smith.
Several of his videos have over one million views, and feature him hand-feeding seemingly wild deer and bucks!
While it can look neat to interact closely with wild animals, it’d be a bad idea to copy him at home. According to the University of New Hampshire, “Feeding deer often makes them more vulnerable to starvation, predation, disease, and vehicle collisions, among other things.”
It’s best for the health of deer to allow them to find food independently. Still, the video is neat to watch!
