If you have ever had a child before, you can attest to the difficulty of coming up with a good name for them. It is a lot of pressure, right?
The last thing that any parent wants to do is saddle their child with a name that is not befitting. While most of us are willing to pour over books of baby names on our own, there are so many names to pick from.

With such a wide range of monikers to select from, it is easy to see why so many parents are struggling these days. Now, expectant parents have decided that they are going to take all of the guesswork out of the equation by hiring a professional baby name consultant. Yes, that is right, this is a real profession and people are paying a pretty penny for their services.
Parents are now spending up to $1,500 to have their children named by a woman named Taylor Humphrey, according to the New York Post. Some of these parents are even spending as much as $10,000 per child. We had no idea that such a racket existed but now we are invested and must know more.

“If you look at the most popular baby names, it’s such a telltale sign of our cultural values and our aspirations,” she says in a piece for the New Yorker. While she does not have any children of her own, she describes herself as someone who is a “passionate writer and storyteller,” as well as being “adept at branding, marketing and social media.”
These are great qualities to have, for sure. She’s also worked as a matchmaker, event planner, and fundraiser. The NYU grad has also “written two feature-length screenplays, and one TV pilot that explore religion, spirituality, science, futurism and the unconditional, enduring nature [of] love”, according to her LinkedIn page.

Her services can “range from a phone call and a bespoke name list to a genealogical investigation”, depending on what the parents are willing to spend.
What’s In a Baby Name was established back in 2015 and continues to thrive, as you can see.
For those who are looking for free advice, she is more than willing to offer it on her TikTok page.
