Prepackaged muffins can be a great snack in a pinch. I personally love them in the morning with my coffee if I haven’t prepared breakfast the night before.
However, if you are a fan of the prepacked muffin then you might want to know that there have been several muffin products that have been recalled over listeria-related concerns. These recalled items have been sold at different establishments such as 7-Eleven, Stop & Shop, Walmart, and Sam’s Club.
The official recall notice was issued by the Food & Drug Administration on behalf of the recall given to them by Give and Go Prepared Foods.
The recall affects several different Give and Go products, however, only the ones listed by the FDA are the affected items. Sadly, some of the affected products include muffin flavors like blueberry, banana nut, double chocolate, Oreo, and others.
While there has been a recall, there is still no reports of illnesses linked to the recall. The recall notice was issued during an environmental monitoring program out of health precaution. Listeria is a bacteria that has the potential to cause the condition, Listeriosis, if contaminated food is eaten. The symptoms of Listeriosis can be particularly harmful to kids, elderly people, or people with compromised immune systems.
The FDA has already stated that anyone who may have Give and Go muffins in their home should immediately dispose of them and not eat them. Anyone can contact their company at 1-844-366-1171 with any questions or concerns regarding the recall. The entire list of the recalled products can be found on the FDA website.
