Although there are many tools we may use as a parent when we have a young child, the sippy cup is probably near the top of the list. After all, it helps to keep the child hydrated while at the same time, keeping our furniture and floors dry.

That isn’t to say, however, that sippy cups are completely without problems. That became obvious after a viral video was posted on TikTok showing a young girl’s 360 cup that was full of mold.

The mom wrote that her daughter had been drinking from the cup daily and was suffering from an ongoing cough and health issues.

The 31-year-old mother has decided to remain anonymous but she still wants to get the message out to other parents. She shows what the cup looks like, as well as showing what a 360 cup should look like when it is cleaned properly.

After posting a number of videos on the subject, more than 3 million people have watched them. It seems as if there are a lot of parents out there who are concerned about the possibility their child is drinking from a dirty cup.

She also said that she wasn’t posting the video to point the finger at the daycare center. She was just trying to bring out how easy it was to clean these cups and if they aren’t cleaned regularly, they can hide mold.

She said: “This is not an ‘I’m mad about it post. Just an awareness spread for others that use them & don’t know either.”

This isn’t only mold, she also said that it is months of old milk that has been crusted on the cup. She said that when her cups are at home, they are properly cleaned and she then updated with the new video saying she has new cups.

It seems as if this is not an isolated event. A survey was posted recently stating that many people did not know about mold in their homes, even though there were health risks associated with it.

One out of four of the 1,145 Americans surveyed said they only found mold while organizing and the majority found it in their kitchen. It was also more likely for millennials to find mold in the home compared to other age groups.

Considering the dangers associated with mold, it’s a good idea to check for it regularly and take appropriate action.
