There are certain fun activities that can only be enjoyed in cold weather climates. And this snowplow naming competition is certainly unique to the snowy climate of Minnesota. In fact, earlier in the year, the Minnesota Department of Transportation had opened up its call for its state residents to get creative with names for the eight snowplows that they added to their 2021 fleet.

The MDOT was overwhelmed with suggestions as they ended up receiving more than 122K submissions!

After going through the suggested names, they have finally announced the eight winning contenders that were pulled from a list of the most submitted names.

In a statement on social media, the MDOT said, “After more than 122,000 votes cast, we’re excited to announce the winners of our Name a Snowplow contest! These eight names will soon be on snowplows across the state.”

The names that were selected were nothing short of silly and pun-tastic.

For District 1, the winner was “Duck, Duck Orange Truck.”

District 2’s snowplow is “Plow Bunyan.”

“Darth Blader” belongs to District 3, while District 6 has “Snowbi Wan Kenobi.”

District 4’s snowplow is “Ope, Just Gonna Plow Right Past Ya.”

“F. Salt Fitzgerald” is District 7.

District 8 has “The Truck Formerly Known as Plow.”

And the Metro District’s snowplow is perhaps the most creative, “Plowy McPlowFace.”

What do you think of the snowplow names? Which is your favorite? Do you live in Minnesota and did you participate in the naming of any of them? Let us know!
