Remember a few years ago when there was that trend of everything being made into cake? Well, this wedding cake is a bit like that. It is definitely unexpected, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t stunning in its own way.
It’s just non-traditional. When we think of wedding cake, we probably think of the typical three or four-tiered cakes that are covered in some kind of fondant or frosting and then elegantly decorated with flowers. Oh, and you can’t forget the little couple cake topper on the very top of the cake.

Sometimes, the cake might be themed in order to reflect something that is particularly important to the couple such as a shared hobby they have. But we would hardly expect a wedding cake to come in the shape of an actual dear, right?
And that is where we’d be wrong. For one Pennsylvania baker, the challenge was on in order to create the most realistic wedding cake for one couple’s outdoorsy nuptials in 2019.

Pam McNeal is the cake decorating supervisor at Shady Maple Farm Market located in East Earl, Pennsylvania. She was the one responsible for creating the life-sized buck – complete with a full set of antlers – for the couple’s big day.

Pam was also photographed standing behind her creation, with was a “truly incredible work,” as the store shared on their post. Since it was shared, the post went on to accumulate thousands of shares as well as comments from people who were floored by Pam’s work.
Of course, there were a few that couldn’t help but sneak a well-meaning joke into the mix, with the most common one being, “How much does it cost? A buck?”

As funny as the joke might be, the store never commented on the cost of the cake. Nor did they elaborate on the specifics of how Pam created the cake while speaking to Philadelphia’s WTXF-TV.
The store did, however, share that it took Pam a painstaking 10 hours to create something that was big enough to feed 250 people. They also shared that the neck and head of the buck weren’t cake but rather Styrofoam. As for the antlers? Those happened to be completely real and were provided to the store by the couple who had commissioned the cake.
