Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

If you’re like me, then Chinese takeout on a Friday night is a semi-frequent occurrence. Particularly in the wintertime, it’s just so much easier to order from your local Chinese and enjoy a movie at home than to put the effort in to go outside in the cold.

But, if you’re like me, you’re also worried about calories. It’s January. It’s the start of the year. We’re probably all trying to stick to our resolutions.

One of mine is to get into shape, so besides the exercise part, I also need to be careful about what I eat so I don’t undo all the good I do at the gym. Hence, bye-bye to those Chinese takeouts on Fridays.

However, if you’re not ready to give up that chicken fried rice, you can make it at home. Jason Farmer has a great video in which he explains step-by-step how to recreate Chinese fried rice right in your kitchen.

The nice thing about making it at home is that you’re able to control the ingredients that go into it, so you can make it healthier than it might be otherwise. Farmer shows you just how to prepare all the ingredients, etc.

As he states in the video, “Fried rice is one of the most popular dishes at every Chinese takeaway! Today, I’ll break down all the tips, tricks and techniques so you’ll be able to make takeout fried rice at home even better than any takeaway restaurant you’ve ever been to! And for a fraction of the cost!”

I don’t know about you, but I’m drooling just thinking about it.
