Comedian Shares How Much Money He Makes On TikTok

We love videos where we get a detailed explanation of how certain people make their money. For example, professional comedians fascinate us in that way. How do so many of them manage to make a decent living?

Our parents told us that we would never be able to tell jokes for a living but these guys seem to do it all the time!

Thanks to this explainer video, you can find out more about the mechanics of it all. For example, this comedian is here to explain how much TikTok comedians make for each and every page view. Ben Brainard is a 25-year-old comic who first posted about this matter back in late 2021. The video has remained at the forefront of a very important debate.

People want to know that their favorite creators are being paid fairly for their contributions, which is highly understandable. Creators help us pass the time with all sorts of funny videos and they deserve to be fairly compensated for that.

Brainard shared some info that came as a surprise to those who watch TikTok, though. As it turns out, he is paid much better on other platforms where he does not have the same size following.

YouTube can be far more lucrative for people like Ben. Brainard says that he made $4,046 from his Facebook videos during the month of December 2021. That equals out to $2.53 per thousand views. On Youtube, he took home $5,267, or $0.26 per thousand views. On the other hand, TikTok doled out $476, which was about $0.02 per thousand video views.

TikTok is where Ben got the most views but it is not where he gets the most money. This is problematic for creators who favor the platform. YouTube’s pay scale is far more transparent as well. TikTok pays its creators with a Creator Fund and creators have been saying that the scale is actually much smaller than other platforms.
