There is no other food personality quite like Guy Fieri. When you come across one of his recipes, you expect something a little quirky, a little fiery, a little out of the ordinary. And that’s exactly why we wanted to try his Macaroni Salad. Excuse me, his Mac-Daddi-Roni Salad.

We made this Macaroni Salad as a part of our Celebrity Macaroni Salad Recipe Showdown. The showdown is a fun project where we take four celebrity recipes — some celebrity chefs, some not so much — cook them, and then taste and compare them to see how they stack up. This match-up included Dolly Parton, Alex Guarnaschelli, Guy Fieri, and Mark Wahlberg. We ended up with four very different mac salads!

What’s In Guy Fieri’s Macaroni Salad?

Well, most of the things are things you’d expect to find in a Macaroni Salad, and then there are a few outliers. (As one would expect with Guy Fieri.)

He calls for specifically 1/4-inch tube macaroni, mayo, mustard, celery, red onion, and carrot. Those are pretty standard. But then, he also calls for: white vinegar, minced garlic, roasted red peppers, peppadew peppers, and pepperoncini. That’s a lot of flavor in one bowl!

How Do You Make Guy Fieri’s Macaroni Salad?

There isn’t any step that’s too out of the ordinary here. It’s pretty much your basic procedure.

Guy has mix together the dressing ingredients and chill them while you cool down the pasta, which he has you do by plunging the macaroni in an ice bath, which is a little unique. From there you just mix everything together and give it an hour in the fridge for the flavors to meld.

How Does It Taste?

This Mac Salad tastes fantastic. This is in no way your classic Macaroni Salad… It has a little bit of spice, a whole lot of flavor from the various peppers, and crunch from the celery and other veggies. It’s not the flavor profile you’d expect when you think Macaroni Salad, but it’s an excellent flavor profile, and it’s perfectly creamy, which is what I want in any Macaroni Salad.

We made this as part of our Celebrity Recipe Showdown.
