Copycat Sizzler Cheese Toast
You can’t get it in the restaurant but you CAN make it at home. With just 3 ingredients and 1 minute of cook time.
If you are lucky enough to have grown up near a Sizzler then you surely remember one of the best things they offered — Cheese Toast. It’s simple, it’s crispy, it’s cheesy… it’s nearly perfect. And for me, it’s a nostalgic kind of food since my main Sizzler visits were in the 90s when they still offered this cheese toast. While Sizzler is still in operation, the cheese toast is no longer on the menu, but luckily you can make your own! This is the recipe directly from Sizzler and it only takes one minute and three ingredients.
To make this delicious toast you just need:
Some bread, some grated pecorino-romano, and — another thing I haven’t really used since the 90s — margarine.
You just mix equal parts of margarine and cheese together and then spread it thickly on the toast.
And then you just place it butter/cheese side down in a pan over medium-low to low heat until that cheese crisps up.
That takes only one minute.
One minute until nostalgic, cheesy, crispy toast sounds pretty good to me.
Even if you never knew the joy of having this at Sizzler, this still makes for a great side dish with so many dinners. It goes well with pasta, with soup, with a steak dinner… it’s like a garlic bread alternative where crispy cheese is the star of the show.
