This comedian is here to share a very funny story about the perils of not reading properly. Ryan Kelly is a popular comedian, with over 4 million followers on TikTok.
He travels on a regular basis and performs stand-up all over the country. He’s got lots of experience when it comes to navigating layovers. Unfortunately, he had a fairly big hiccup to navigate recently and he placed himself in a tough spot.
Ryan blames no one but himself for this one and those are the worst mistakes to make. It is hard to deal with these types of issues when they are not the direct cause of your own actions. So how did Ryan screw up and how bad did it cost him?
“It’s all because apparently I can’t read,” he says in the clip. It all started when he got booked for a show in Wyoming.
The closest flight that he could get was to Denver. This left him with a 2 1/2 hour drive to the show, which was not an issue. Once he checked into a hotel to take a nap, he felt like something was off. His agent did not call to touch base, which made him start to wonder if he had made some kind of mistake. Ryan’s story is one for the ages.
“I pull up the booking email and apparently I only like to read half things. Because I was supposed to be there the 29th… but of September,” Kelly explained. “So I am just a month early in a state I don’t need to be in after paying for a rental car, a hotel room, an early check-in fee, a flight to Denver!”
When it was all said and done, Ryan was left to eat all of those expenses. He had to drive back to Denver just to catch a flight back to Los Angeles as well. “Moral of this story is to read the whole email,” said one viewer and they are 100 percent correct. We are willing to bet that Ryan will never half-read any e-mails again.
“This is like me when I panic immediately instead of waiting to hear the full info and then understand it doesn’t even apply to me,” said another and we could not stop laughing.

We have never screwed up this badly but stories like these are definitely relatable. It’s the sort of error that anyone could make.
