Sometimes, the place you call home just isn’t really the right fit. This often leads people to go on crazy adventures as they search for their place in the world.
A former film industry worker, Isley Reust, felt unsettled in her life in Los Angeles. As a citizen of both the US and Germany, Reust spent a good portion of her childhood flying back and forth between Germany and the US.
She shared with Bustle that she became fascinated with Iceland, having seen it from the plane many, many times.
So, when it came time for Reust to choose a change of scenery and lifestyle, there was only one place that she could think of living: Iceland.
As she explained in the Bustle series “Relocated,” she always knew that someday she would be making the move to Iceland.
As she stated, “I always knew that I was going to move to Iceland ever since I was a little kid…I just remember being so fascinated and intrigued with the landscape and how beautiful it was. I thought to myself, ‘One day I’m going to move here.'”
And that is how she came to make the life-changing move to the remote fjord town of Ìsafjörður in northwestern Iceland.
She now lives a very different life from her former life in Los Angeles, working as a photographer and sharing all the incredible beauty of Iceland on her Instagram.
