CNN recently broke the news that 6,4000 pounds of frozen meat products are being recalled for possible salmonella contamination. The company that produces Walmart’s Great Value fully cooked and frozen meats, George’s Prepared Foods, tested a small batch of meat and found it was contaminated. The product was supposed to be disposed of, but accidentally got shipped out nationwide instead.
According to the USDA, the following frozen meat products are subject to the recall:
Great Value Fully Cooked Original Pork Sausage Patties, 24.92-oz
- Use-by date: 10/16/19
- Lot code: 1091971894
Great Value Fully Cooked Original Breakfast Turkey Patties, 24.92-oz
- Use-by date: 10/24/19

Most people present with salmonella symptoms anywhere from 12 to 72 hours after consumption of contaminated food. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever, and cramps, which typically last up to a week. If you purchased any of these products, please throw them away! You can also return the product to Walmart and get a refund.
