Panera is doing something interesting next month. They are instituting a coffee subscription service that allows customers to select either coffee or tea beverages for only $8.99 per month plus taxes. The best news? The beverages are unlimited!
MyPanera+Coffee is the name of the plan, and as long as you are a member of their rewards program, MyPanera, it will be available to you. If you sign up for the service, you can visit more than 2,100 Panera cafés in the United States to get drinks.
“Coffee is an important daily ritual for so many,” Niren Chaudhary, Panera’s CEO, said in a press release announcing the program, according to Today. “We kept asking ourselves, why can’t it be more accessible, more affordable? Moreover, could unlimited coffee translate to unlimited optimism?”
450 Panera restaurants in 3 states were used to test the coffee subscription service. It must’ve been a success because they are now rolling it out across the nation.
Hot and iced coffee and hot tea are included in the program and you can choose any size you want. In other words, you don’t have to stick with the same thing, you can switch things up and keep it interesting. Panera offers four different types of coffees, including light and dark roasts, hazelnut, and decaf.
According to a press release, Panera will not be charging extra for plant-based milk, such as almond milk.
If you happen to be a heavy coffee drinker, you may be saving $50 a month or more and perhaps hundreds of dollars per year. The prices for coffee and tea do differ from one location to another, but a large cup of hot coffee tends to be $2.50-$2.95.
There are a few things you should know about the “unlimited” beverage promise. If you have a subscription, you can get one cup of coffee every two hours. If you want more than one cup, you will have to pay for it. You have to be a MyPanera member to take advantage of the program but you can sign up for free using a smartphone or through their website.
