Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Pasta is one of those go-to dishes that we seem to fall back on often. It’s inexpensive, delicious, and super simple to make. When the coronavirus pandemic struck, people stocked up on pasta, and, let’s face it, some people were even hoarding it.

We love pasta because it can be made in so many different ways. We can boil it and throw some red sauce on it, it can become part of mac & cheese, we can make goulash, and the list goes on and on. Even leftover pasta can be pulled out of the refrigerator and made when the chips are down.

There is no doubt that pasta is quick to make and super simple. We often boil it on the stove after buying pasta at the store and allow it to simmer. Pasta can also be made from scratch, considering it is nothing more than flour and water.

Perhaps the one thing we dislike about making pasta is draining the water. How many times have you tried to strain your pasta, only to have the entire pot end up in the sink? Yeah, I think we’ve all been there.

As it turns out, there is a method that you may not have ever considered before and TikTok is there to help. It’s a new way to drain your pasta and our lives will never be the same.

This comes from TikTok user kristinalburn, who posted a video that shows 2 different ways to drain the pasta after boiling it. The first way is the familiar option, as she pours it from the pot through a metal strainer.

It is the 2nd method that really caught our eye. The metal strainer is put inside of the pot and holding the 2 together allows you to drain the water easily. It’s a lot easier to know what I’m talking about if you watch for yourself:
