If you’re a fan of sunflower seeds, you’ll want to check your pantries and make sure none of your sunflower seed products line up with the list of those recently recalled….

It was announced on Tuesday that many sunflower kernel products were recalled, due to possible Listeria contamination. Causing serious (and sometimes fatal) infection, Listeria symptoms include nausea, severe headache, fever, stiffness, abdominal pain and diarrhea, but can also cause stillbirths or miscarriages among pregnant women.

SunOpta (a Giant Eagle supplier) issued a voluntary recall on Dakota’s Best brand and Planters brand products containing sunflower seeds, and Ghiringhelli Specialty Foods (Trader Joe’s supplier) recalled their Broccoli Slaw and Kale Salad which also contained sunflower seeds. You can find a list of affected brands here, and the official SunOpta recall announcement here. For any further questions, call 1-877-237-4374.
