Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Most people tend to hold back at least a little when they are out for drinks with friends because they can easily count how much they are drinking by how much they are spending. A bar in Missouri is changing that for everyone who visits.

If you are somebody who enjoys cheap tricks and plenty of them, then you may want to head over to the Open Concept bar in South City, St. Louis. When they opened their doors on Friday, October 4, they did so with the unique offer of paying for drinks by the hour.

You heard it right, rather than paying for every drink that lands on the table, Open Concept sells the time that you can drink as much as you legally can. Of course, you can’t end up on the floor while doing so.

If you are looking for premium drinks, it will set you back $10 per hour. If you really want to go all out and order top-shelf liquor, you will have to pay $20 per hour according to WKRC news.

You can read more about it on the Open Concept website:

“At Open Concept all of the drinks are on us, although you pay per hour to access the space. At our bar we don’t sell drinks, we sell time.

That means for an average price of $10 per hour you can drink as much as you can handle.”

The owner of the bar, Michael Butler explained the idea further:

“We decided to mix technology with that open bar concept. To where you can pay per hour and you can stay in the space as long as you want.

This place is different because you’re buying time instead of the drinks. Open Concept is the first of its kind in the region and the state of Missouri.”

This may seem like it could get out of control quickly but the staff at Open Concept seems to have a way to keep the intake in check.

Open Concept means an 2,500 sqft large open space, 3 100’ large projector screens, 4 50’ TV screens, a 100 sqft stage, and an open bar with over 75 drink choices. The numbers add up to a whole lot of fun! Book now at www.openconceptstl.com

Butler said that visitors sign into the bar with their mobile phone. Open Concept can then track all drinks that are consumed to keep the customers within legal limits.

If you are somebody who doesn’t drink very quickly and sits with the same drink in front of you all night long, you may want to choose another pub.

I think that the concept is rather interesting but it will be even more interesting to see how many drinks people are actually consuming per hour.
