I think that all of us love candy in some way or another but the recent news has been anything but sweet. Due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, See’s Candies is halting all candy production and suspending online ordering until the pandemic passes.
The announcement was made on Friday in a statement to customers that all work on fulfillment, shipping, and call-center departments were being put on pause. The company is concerned about their employees and their health.
The candy shop opened in 1921 and in their 99 year history, this is only the second time that they have halted their activity. The first time was due to rationing during World War II.
“Please know that we did not make this decision lightly. In addition to making the best candy you can find, we seek to have the best customer service. So, we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding, as our contact center is temporarily closed. We will work to keep you updated as we develop plans to safely resume operations,” the statement read.
Since the company is pausing all shipping of products, customer refunds will be issued on any existing orders within the next two weeks.
As long as they are closed down, they’re asking fans to share memories about the company and its products.
