If you’ve had salisbury steak before, you’ll know it’s a delicious meal that’s perfect for any weeknight dinner. The steaks are made of ground beef, then typically served with a tasty brown gravy along with any other sides you’d like to serve it with, but we found a way to make it even better. Turning it into a casserole is a way to simplify and streamline the whole process, while still getting a delicious meal that will warm everyone up and fill those hungry tummies.

While our version of salisbury steak casserole is still ground beef-based, we make a quick brown sauce – trust us, it tastes so much better than it looks! – and incorporated mashed potatoes, turning this into a full meal. So let’s break down the sauce: while you could absolutely make a brown gravy from the beef drippings, we used French onion soup, cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce to make the sauce that goes with the salisbury steak. While it really doesn’t look like much, and it might not sound like these ingredients all go together, but trust us, they do….

Once you’ve got your sauce, all that needs to be done is to brown your beef, pour the sauce on top, add your green beans, then top with mashed potatoes. Skip all the individual processes and combine them into one to make this yummy casserole. It’s a full, stick-to-your-ribs meal that is perfect for colder days and will get the whole family feeling cozy and comfy. We love it and you will too!
