Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

October 31 is a day that many people equate with Halloween.

For some, it is their favorite holiday and although they may not get a day off work, they do get an opportunity to dress up and cut loose for an evening.

In many cases, people are celebrating in style, and this includes dressing up as some of their favorite characters. Many movies that are included in those dress-up sessions are some of the most frightening, including everything from Scream to Friday the 13th.

Most recently, we have the Japanese horror film Ringu. This film was also remade in 2002 in the United States, and it features one character that seems to be making the rounds this October. That character, Sadako (Samara), is said to be riding along in taxis thanks to a Tokoyo-based app called S.Ride.

For those who take the chance to handle one of the Sadako Taxis, a unique riding experience is sure to be enjoyed. According to Vertical-Inc., the app will ensure that you are involved with it from the very beginning, showing a picture of Sadako and letting you know that she is coming.

Pictures of Sadako can be seen on the outside of the cab in some digital signage. Once you are on the inside, you can see her coming from behind the driver’s seat. Fortunately, you will still make it to your destination but that doesn’t mean that you won’t have a frightful experience while getting there.

Just because the service is being offered through the taxi company does not mean that you have to accept it. It is optional, and only 50 cabs in Tokyo are going to be taking part in it. The campaign will end on November 6, and from that point on, it will be back to business as usual.
