Course: dessert
Cuisine: American
Servings: Makes about 2 dozen small truffles
Author: Victoria Brittain

Ingredients

  • 54 Oreo cookies, ground (cream filling and all) into a fine crumb
  • 12 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 16 ounces white chocolate or almond bark
  • Red and pink food coloring (optional)
  • Sprinkles, for garnish

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, combine Oreo crumbs and cream cheese, mixing together until it forms a uniform paste.
  2. Transfer the dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, pressing into an even 1-inch layer.
  3. Chill the dough in the freezer for 20 to 25 minutes.
  4. Once firmed up, use a small heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Transfer the cut out truffles to a parchment-lined plate.
  5. Melt white chocolate in the microwave in 30-second intervals until completely melted. If you want to have different colored truffles, you can divide the melted chocolate now and tint it pink or red.
  6. Dip each heart truffle into the white chocolate, making sure it’s completely coated.
  7. Garnish with sprinkles. If you want to make stripes, let the truffles’ coating firm up completely and then drizzle on an opposite color.
