Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon cup whole milk
  • butter for serving
Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 300˚F. In a medium bowl combine flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and spices.
  2. In large bowl combine eggs, sugar, honey, and milk. Add flour mixture to wet ingredients and stir until combined. Pour into a 9”x5” loaf pan and bake for 1 hour or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
  3. Allow to cool before removing from pan and slicing into 8 equal pieces. When ready to serve toast sliced cake pieces lightly in oven under the broiler and top each piece with a slice of butter.
