Ingredients

  • 6 hoagie rolls
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, seeded and diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 4 oz cream cheese, chopped
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

For serving:

  • American cheese slices
  • Shredded iceberg lettuce
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced pickles
  • Mayo
  • Mustard
  • Ketchup

Preparation

  1. To a skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef. Season with salt and pepper and start to brown, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  2. After a few minutes, add the onion and continue cooking until meat is no longer pink.
  3. Add bell pepper and garlic and cook until soft, about 3 minutes more.
  4. Reduce heat to low, then stir in Worcestershire sauce, followed by cream cheese.
  5. Stir until cream cheese has melted, then stir in cheddar cheese in handfuls, again stirring until melted.
  6. Season to taste with salt and pepper, then pile into hoagie rolls topped with American cheese and your favorite condiments and sandwich fixings. Enjoy!
