Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the butter, oil, and sugars with an electric mixer.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until well blended.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar and gradually add to butter mixture. Mix until combined.
  5. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets and bake until edges are lightly browned, 8-11 minutes.
  6. Remove to wire racks to cool. Enjoy!
