Panda Express has expanded its menu and is now offering more plant-based, cruelty-free options. One of their latest offerings is a vegan orange “chicken” and we cannot wait to try it!

The restaurant has made a number of changes to the menu over the last year or so. However, none of them have been as popular as this one.

The Beyond The Original Orange Chicken item was a highly valued addition for many and for very good reason.

If you are not familiar, this item was added to the menu back in July. There is so much going on right now, these things can end up eluding us. The new item functions as a meatless version of The Original Orange Chicken. As most experienced Panda Express diners know, this is the most popular item on their menu.

According to Thrillist, a spokesperson from the Panda Express brand claims that all of the locations in Southern California sold out of the new item within a mere two weeks.

Since this is one of the “most successful regional launches to date at Panda,” that is probably why we were blissfully unaware of it.

Did you know that the original Orange Chicken accounts for roughly 33 percent of all Panda Express sales? We did not but that is not too shocking to us. Fortunately, the new plant-based dish is starting to make its way to other locations, as select New York City residents are finally being given the chance to chow down.

We hope that the popularity of the Beyond The Original Orange Chicken item leads to an increased level of discussion about a national rollout.
