Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

I saw a grey & white kitty sitting on a log one morning when I went for my morning walk. I thought maybe he belonged to a house not far from here. He was a pretty cat, but he didn’t let me get too close.

After seeing him nearly every day for two weeks, I noticed on the day something didn’t look right. The kitty’s head was hanging down. Carefully, I approached him. He was skittish at first, but I moved slowly, and he let me touch him.

The moment I made contact, I could tell the poor cat was all skin and bones. He had obviously been starving for quite some time. I scooped him up and took him back to my office. I called my supervisor and asked if I could take him to the vet. I felt the kitty was in an emergency condition.

My supervisor agreed, and after the visit, I took the kitty home and slowly nursed him back to health. I named him “Nick,” because I felt I had saved him in the nick of time. Nick made a full recovery and has become the best little member of our family.
