Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Winter is upon us. That means that we need to take the necessary precautions to protect ourselves from colds and the flu. When our friends and loved ones start to fall ill, we are forced to take extra precautions. Those who feel like they are always getting sick and cannot pinpoint the issue may want to take a closer look at their travel mug, though.

Veronica Lucas has decided to share her findings on this matter with her Facebook friends. All you need to do is lift up the lid on your travel mug. There is usually a rubber seal located on the side of this lid. These rubber seals can be taken off the cup and should be removed after each use. If it is not? The bacteria and germs that are collecting underneath the lid can cause illness.

The last thing that you want to do is create a breeding ground for germs and bacteria on a cup that you are using on a daily basis. Doctors have been finding that their patients are struggling with illness because of their travel mugs. All it takes is a moment or two to safeguard your mug from this bacteria.

It is easy to see why so many people neglect this aspect of the cleaning process. The best way to make sure that your travel mug is safe is by placing it in the dishwasher. You can wash the mug by hand, but the dishwasher offers better results. Those who do not have a dishwasher to use will need to take a different approach.

Apparently doctors have been finding that some patients are struggling to fight off unexplainable infections…even…

The travel mug needs to be taken apart and soaked in hot water for an extended period. Take the time to soak the mug in soapy, hot water for a bit before cleaning it by hand. This ensures that all of the bacteria will be removed before too long. This information is very important and we are glad that Veronica Lucas was willing to pass it along.

There are certain aspects of our day to day routine that we take for granted. If you find yourself falling ill more often than you would expect, you may need to give your travel mug a good once over. Whether you are cleaning the mug by hand or utilizing the dishwasher, the results are tough to argue with.
