Iceland is one of the best places on the planet to visit if you are looking for an experience that is otherworldly. This is one of the only locations on Earth that allows us to feel as if we have visited another planet. The Blue Lagoon has received a lot of attention and so has Reynisfjara Beach. Now, the country is taking another bold step forward with this futuristic vacation spot.
The Galaxy Pod is already attracting visitors and for good reason. The hostel is located in the capital city of Reykjavík. Their nightly rates are easily affordable, making this a popular destination for a host of travelers. The space pods are causing a number of Star Wars fans to make their way to the city. We cannot say that we blame them, that is for sure.
There is also a wide range of communal amenities designed to enhance the experience. Free WiFi, a virtual reality gaming room and a kitchen that is always fully stocked only serve to add to the fun that takes place here. The beds are stacked on top of each other and they look like something out of our favorite science fiction films. The design was not actually inspired by Star Wars, though.
Fans of The Fifth Element are sure to relate to this location. The setup was reportedly inspired by this film. The scene where the main characters drift off to sleep on a spacecraft that is in the process of departing was used as a template. The beds are also decked out. The amenities include mood lighting, reading lights, smart televisions, charging stations and privacy curtains.
Once you have had the chance to see one of these pods, it is easy to see what all of the fuss is about. This is one location that we are definitely going to be adding to our bucket list as soon as possible. Whether you are someone who enjoys science fiction films or not, this is one hostel that is going to be on everyone’s shortlist when they take the time to visit Iceland.
