In Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, there are new mailboat jumpers for the summer season. They include high school and college-aged applicants who were vying for the coveted job. It involves jumping on and off tourist boats on Lake Geneva and those boats don’t stop moving.
“There’s definitely nothing like this. There’s definitely nothing you can really do to prepare for it, so you just have to kind of go for it and see what happens,” Molly McEneany told TMJ 4.
McEneany has been busy jumping on and off of those boats during the summer for the past 3 1/2 years. Over 300 jobs have been completed and she only ended up in Lake Geneva five times. Ava Pezza is an applicant with no experience but she has hoped to have the job since she was young.
“I really want to do this. I’ve always thought about it. I just think it would be really exciting to do,” Pezza said.
Pezza managed to stick the landing successfully so she hopes she will get the summer job.
“(It was) very nerve-racking. The second (jump) was really far; you had to run so much. And you have to really commit to it,” Pezza said.

Mailjumpers wear a lifejacket for each job. They deliver mail to the lake homes, jumping onto the boats and then back off on Lake Geneva tourist boats that don’t stop moving. They also narrate the tour for a portion of the trip and when they jump, they try not to fall in the water.
