Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

When you have an island in your kitchen, one of the great things about it is having extra seating. Individuals and families have been pulling themselves up to the bar and enjoying a meal, along with some time together, without ever leaving the kitchen area.

It’s a great way to enjoy a meal together as a family or to just enjoy some convenience of eating where you cook, but there is a problem that goes along with it. The stools that we use to eat at the bar are often problematic and many of us have stubbed our toes as we walk around them.

If this is been the bane of your existence, then you will really appreciate what Erla Dögg Ingjaldsdóttir and Tryggvi Thorsteinsson of Minarc have created.

They are minimalistic designers, and they have created some counter stools that are perfect when you need them and perfect when you don’t. After all, they provide a comfortable and convenient seat at the counter, but when you are done using them, they disappear from sight.

They’re called the HiddenSit and are perfect for those who want a sleek, minimalistc look and more space.

They shared a photo of the design featured in Interior Magazine on Facebook, and Erla said, “This house is basically an excuse for a kitchen.” We couldn’t agree more!
