The modified vending machine features chicken wings, beef, ham, turkey, rib tips, combo sandwiches, or a signature “burnt ends sandwich.”
Vending machines are often used to dispense snacks, soda, or water. They have been used for a wide variety of other purposes as well. This includes a unique option that we see in Kansas City, Kansas. A barbecue restaurant is using an automatic dispenser to provide fresh BBQ.
Check it out! We have a vending machine outside our store filled with our delicious, signature barbecue! Stocked daily…
The modified vending machine can be found out in front of the Jones Bar-B-Q storefront and it has a seven-course assortment. For those who are hungry for barbecue, they can choose from chicken wings, beef, ham, turkey, rib tips, or combo sandwiches, or their famous burnt ends sandwich. The meals are surprisingly affordable, with a price range from $4 up to $7.50 and each meal comes with a side dish.
Deborah “Little” Jones and Mary “Shorty” Jones Mosley are the owners of the establishment, and they also happen to be sisters. They decided to install the machine so that local customers could have options for evening meals. Typically, Jones Bar-B-Q is open between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM during the pandemic, but the refrigerated unit allows people to have meals during times that they would typically want them. Plastic clamshell food containers are able to fit in the modified unit and it is stocked in the morning. All of the meats are fresh from the smoker.
The trick to our mouthwatering barbecue? We cook it nice and slooow. We are out here at the pit before the sun even comes up! Available for carry-out Tues-Sat from 11am-3pm. 📷 : @jasperskc
Jones Bar-B-Q may have done this to help with those who are social distancing due to the pandemic, but they were actually considering doing it anyway. A bar nearby ensured that prospective customers would be wandering by and perhaps looking for a bite to eat. The machine is ideal on a number of levels, including contactless ordering and servicing those who have had something to drink.SKM: below-content placeholder
