Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day, and what food is more synonymous with breakfast than the humble egg? Scrambled, fried, poached, baked – there are many ways that the egg can be prepared.

One popular method is the omelet. It’s easy to make and quite satisfying, plus, there are so many possibilities for filling.

Recently, however, there has been a TikTok video making the rounds that has given the classic omelet somewhat of a facelift.

The creator of the video is calling it the “inside-out omelet.” According to Jackie Hartlaub, who goes by Low Carb State of Mind on her TikTok, the recipe calls for a couple of eggs, some shredded cheese, and anything else you’d want to add to a normal omelet.

Then, you take a nonstick skillet or a pan coated with non-stick spray and heat it on medium heat before you add a large sprinkling of your favorite shredded cheese. Once the cheese begins to melt, you beat two eggs and off them to the pan – but be sure to tilt the pan or skillet in order to spread them evenly across the chase.

Once the eggs start to cook, you can add the rest of the ingredients. For Jackie, she used cooked bacon that she finely chopped, as well as pickled jalapeños – but the filling totally depends on what you prefer. And you can add as much or as little as you want.

Once the eggs have cooked, you season the inside-out omelet with salt and pepper then flip it in half and plate up. So simple!

Jackie further revealed that you can add more toppings to it, as she showed that she liked to top hers off with a little pico de gallo and Greek yogurt. It’s crispier on the outside and nice and soft on the inside.
